In October 2016, India along with nearly 200 other countries adopted an agreement in Kigali, Rwanda to phase down the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). India agreed to move forward its proposed freeze year by three years from 2031 to 2028 and its proposed baseline by four years from 2028-2030 to 2024-2026. Efforts facilitated by Shakti have informed India’s stance on the global phasedown of HFCs as well as led to a more informed policy discourse in the country.
